  • pokud jsme se už o nějaké věci zmínili, podstatné jméno se už obvykle nepřidává
    • -> Is your friend British or Amercan? - Neither, she’s Australian.
  • both of, neither of nebo either of se používá s přivlastňovacími a ukazovacími zájmeny nebo s určitým členem the (both lze v některých případech používat i bez of)
    • -> Both of these restaruants were good. = Both these restaurants were good
    • -> Neither of these restaurants were expensive.
    • -> We can go to either of these restaurants. I don’t mind.
    • -> Can either of you speak russian?
    • -> Both of us were tired. (nikoli Both us…)
  • u neither of nezáleží na čísle slovesa
    • -> Neither of them is at home. = Neither of them are at home.
  • říkáme:
    • both + and -> Both Chris and Paul were late.
    • neither + nor -> Neither Chris nor Paul were late.
    • either + or -> Either you apologise, or I’ll never speak to you again.
