• poukazuje na specifickou věc, místo, fakt, o které už byla zmíňka
• v rozhovoru většinou následuje po there
  • -> We went to the new restaurant. It’s very good. (it - the restaurant)
  • -> I wasn’t expecting her to call me. It was a complete surprise. (it - fact that she called)
• it se většinou umisťuje na začátek věty
• it lze také použít když mluvíme o vzdálenostech, počasí, a času
  • -> It’s a long time since we saw you.
